Fun and Freedom Activities

When the Activity Coordinator at the Fallbrook Apartments Community Center announced the date for the Operation Back 2 School giveaway event, the children at the property could barely contain their excitement. For many of these children, the first day of school can be an embarrassing and heartbreaking one, especially if parents cannot afford to provide them with the necessary supplies. This year brought a different scenario. Parents knew their children would soon stock up on all the supplies they needed.

When the day finally arrived, children of all ages and grade levels showed up, gathering school supplies and enjoying the complimentary food and beverages offered. Games, karaoke and fellowship made the event a hit with kids and parents alike. Most importantly, an increase in the children’s self-confidence, a decrease in parents’ stress level, and a heightened sense of pride were evident as participants departed armed for success with all needed supplies in tow.

  • Families were able to socialize while celebrating the opportunity to stock up on much needed school supplies they would have otherwise not been able to afford
  • Children gained confidence knowing they would be able to show up on the first day of school with all of their supplies
  • Parents were relieved and proud that their children could attend school with a new-found confidence
